Elegant Art Of Lighting

Elegant Art Of Lighting | One of the things you frequently learn about LED lights, is the fact that their beam angle is narrower compared to old fashion incandescent lights, or perhaps compared to newer CFLs.

What creates this change mean and is it a problem?

The beam angle may be the angle where light is directed from the bulb. So a small angle of 20 degrees can be suitable for a place light, focusing light on only one small area. If you want more general lighting, spreading light over the whole room, a greater angle of perhaps 90 degrees can be preferred. In most domestic lighting situations beam angles of 30-45 degrees are sufficient to light a place comfortably.

The concept that LEDs have narrow beam angles stems from the older technology LEDs that have been indeed created for focused light in a very narrow area. Today this can be no longer true. New technology now signifies that LED lights are available in a very wide array of beam angles, from narrow spotlights to wider general lighting. Some LEDS can be obtained in a very array of beam angles from 15, 30, 40, 45, 60, 90, to 120 degrees. What this means is the fact that there is a lots of choice in the marketplace, sometimes so much choice it gets confusing for your buyer. You can no longer just grab a bulb from the supermarket shelf. There are decisions to get made!
